To preserve this unique identity and promote it worldwide, the WKN created the Active Fight Rules (AFR), the exclusive signature of WKN Kun Khmer. AFR was specifically designed to showcase the authentic spirit of Kun Khmer by rewarding constant action, offensive pressure, and the relentless warrior mentality that has made this martial art legendary.
Unlike many other combat sports where fighters can rely on excessive movement, defensive tactics, or inactive clinching, AFR demands continuous engagement. Passivity, unnecessary retreat, and inactive clinches are penalized, encouraging athletes to remain active from the opening bell to the final round. Every fight becomes an exciting display of courage, skill, and determination.
The AFR system is the result of more than two years of research and development conducted personally by the WKN World President. After studying the historical roots of Kun Khmer and analyzing some of the greatest Kun Khmer fights ever contested, a modern and structured ruleset was created to protect the sport’s authenticity while making it more dynamic and attractive for international audiences.
Thanks to this exclusive concept and its unique identity, the WKN World President successfully achieved another historic milestone by integrating Kun Khmer into BoxRec, the world’s leading combat sports database, alongside professional boxing. This recognition provides Kun Khmer athletes with an internationally recognized competitive record while significantly increasing the sport’s global visibility and credibility.
The AFR rules are officially registered with BoxRec, reinforcing their legitimacy and establishing WKN Kun Khmer as a unique and recognized discipline on the international stage.
This project has been developed from the very beginning in close cooperation with the Kun Khmer Federation (KKF), under the leadership and full approval of General Khov Chhay. Together, WKN and KKF are working to preserve Cambodia’s martial heritage while building a global future for Kun Khmer.
