Historic Milestone Confirmed – WKN Open South Africa Is Now Official 🇿🇦
A new page in African kickboxing history has just been written. Today, the official agreement for the WKN Open South Africa 🇿🇦 Amateur Championship was formally signed by the WKN World President and the local promoter, Josh “Cassius” Cloete.
With this signature, the organization of the event is now 100% confirmed.
The WKN World President personally oversaw the setup of this historic championship, working directly and closely with the promoter to ensure that all conditions were met to make this project a reality. He provided his full support and assistance throughout the process, demonstrating the WKN’s strong commitment to developing the sport in Africa.
This first-ever WKN Open Championship on African soil, scheduled for September 6th, 2025 in Cape Town, marks a major milestone for the continent. The event is expected to gather around 300 participants, bringing together juniors and seniors in full contact and light contact kickboxing.
More than just a competition, this event is a symbol of progress, opportunity, and growth for African kickboxing. It paves the way for the long-term expansion of WKN Open Championships across the continent, starting with South Africa.
