Fortius Boxing Club stands as a true temple of boxing, discipline, and combat excellence. For over 10 years, its founder and leading figure Ionas Christodoulou has been sharing the gold he forged through experience, adversity, and relentless dedication. Across the world, he has passed on his knowledge, shaping fighters with substance, character, and a deep respect for the art of combat.
With more than 150 amateur fights, Ionas has competed on the highest international stages, taking part in two World Championships and numerous Olympic qualification tournaments. At the Commonwealth Games, his devastating left-hand knockout ended an undefeated opponent’s run and made headlines. Even in defeat, his name stood out, opponents often progressed only after facing his relentless pressure, power, and warrior mentality. His reputation was built not on luck, but on experience earned in rings across the world.
From this exceptional journey was born Fortius Boxing Club a gym founded on hard work, humility, and mental toughness. While Cyprus may not be globally recognized so much for boxing, it remains an island of extremely tough fighters and combat athletes, widely respected for their resilience and fighting spirit. Fortius Boxing Club fully embodies this identity: a place where you can truly breathe boxing, where every detail reflects passion, tradition, and excellence.
This vision and level of work were recently recognized at the highest level. Today, the President of the WKN/Vice President of the IBA visited Fortius Boxing Club to witness firsthand the work being done. They discovered a splendid facility, a gym built with purpose and authenticity a place where boxing lives in every corner, and where the future of the sport is being shaped with seriousness and respect.
A key pillar of this legacy is Chris Christodoulou, Ionas’ brother. As the WKN Coordinator in Cyprus, he has also been without question the greatest boxing promoter the island has ever known. He organized three editions of the legendary “Biggers Better” tournament, broadcast live on Eurosport, and made history as the organizer of the very first Biggers Better event ever held. Through his vision and work, Cypriot boxing reached an international audience and earned long-overdue recognition.
Together, Ionas and Chris Christodoulou represent more than a family name, they represent a boxing and combat sports legacy, built on experience, integrity, and a deep love for the fight game.
