A Successful First Edition of the WKN Uruguay Open 🇺🇾
This past weekend, the WKN Uruguay Open delivered an outstanding first edition, bringing together more than 120 participants an impressive achievement for the country’s combat sports scene. The event showcased high-level performances across multiple categories, confirming the growing popularity and talent within Uruguay.
The competition featured a wide range of divisions, from lightweight junior to super heavyweight, as well as K1 and kickboxing categories. Among the standout results:
In the Lightweight Junior division, Jorge García claimed first place, followed by Angelo Rizzo and Francisco Fabri. In the Women’s Lightweight category, Michelle Zupo secured victory ahead of Catherine Mancebo, while Sofia Ortiz earned a podium finish in another lightweight female bracket.
The Super Heavyweight division saw Federico Miranda take the top spot, with Agustín Álvez finishing second. In the 54.4 kg category, Dominique Trujillo led the podium, followed by Florencia Olivera and Naiara Garguiulo.
Kickboxing also delivered thrilling action. Joaquín González dominated the Semi-Heavyweight division, with Bruno Cedres and Braian Umpierrez completing the top three. In K1 Lightweight, Zeus Santamarina took first place ahead of Rodrigo Rodríguez, while Diego Villar led the Semi-Heavyweight K1 category, followed by Brian Coronel and Jonathan Guglielmone.
Other notable winners included Leandro Vincenzi in the Bantamweight division, and Maxi Ramirez in the Super Welterweight category, both demonstrating exceptional skill and determination.
Beyond the competition itself, the event stood out for its organization and atmosphere. Mauro Mar and his team did an incredible job, ensuring everything ran smoothly and professionally. Their efforts clearly paid off, making this inaugural edition a complete success.
A special mention goes to WKN Uruguay, who supported all participants by providing energy drinks and various refreshments throughout the event. This thoughtful gesture helped create a comfortable and welcoming environment, allowing fighters to perform at their best.
