WKN’s Strong Connection with Professional Boxing Since the Beginning !
Since its inception, the World Kickboxing Network -WKN has maintained a strong and deep-rooted connection with professional boxing, the world’s leading combat sport. From the early 1990s, WKN had the privilege of securing its first major contract with the legendary American promoter Don King 👑, the most influential figure in the history of boxing. This milestone solidified WKN’s close relationship with professional boxing, a sport that has always been the global reference in combat sports.
Boxing has consistently held the top position in terms of media coverage, sponsorship opportunities, and worldwide recognition. It has been the priority for major broadcasters, corporate sponsors, and international celebrities, reinforcing its status as the number one combat sport in the world.
WKN has always taken inspiration from professional boxing in shaping its regulations, championship structures, and the overall governance of its competitions. Our rules and sanctioning system closely follow the principles of boxing to ensure the highest level of professionalism and fairness in every fight. Many of our officials are also globally respected figures in professional boxing, including the late Steve Smoger (🇺🇸🙏rip) one of the sport’s most iconic referees, who was an integral part of WKN’s history.
Furthermore, WKN has established agreements with BoxRec®️, the definitive record-keeping authority in boxing, often referred to as the “Bible of the Noble Art.” We have also had the privilege of featuring our world championship events on Eurosport for years, sharing the spotlight with elite boxing promotions. One of the most iconic examples was Biggers Better, a groundbreaking series that dominated viewership ratings and became one of the most-watched combat sports programs of its time.
