STB 16 Kosice: Matous Kohout vs Pavol Garaj for WKN International middleweight title
Kickboxing series Simply The Best 16 Kosice is held on October 14 at Steel Arena. The event is the fourth series produced by Lukas Bodyy and Petr Lamac in Slovakia, following three previous chapters held in Poprad.
The event is a mixed program comprising kickboxing, MMA and boxing bouts. The roster includes the leading Slovakian athletes up against international opponents. Several WKN titles will be contested during the evening.
In one of the WKN championship bouts Czech middleweight Matous Kohout travels to Kosice to take on Slovakian star Pavol Garaj, challenging for International belt. The bout is also rematch with pair’s first encounter held last October in Banska Bystrica where the guest out of Czech Republic took the decision.
Pavol Garaj makes his fifth Simply The Best appearance, which includes the series pilot in 2014, when he defeated Bulgarian Stefan Stankov earning WKN World super welterweight title. His most recent bout was in June in Kosice, where he stopped Belgian David van Branteghem in the first round at Rebuy Stars Fight Night.
Matous Kohout is a current WKN European middleweight champion, winning the belt by decision against Belgian Jente Van Hul at STB 14 Prague in April. The upcoming show is his fourth appearance in the series, which also includes the battles against Slovak Vladimir Idranyi at STB 11 Poprad, and Poland’s Pawel Jedrzejczyk at STB 13 Nowa Sol.
