The word and division PRO/AM was invented by the WKN world president in the 90’s more than 20 years ago to give to the very good amateurs the chance to compete for championships.
With a shorter distance, a very nice champion belt to the winner and a reduced number of counts/KOs, the word PRO/AM has since been taken up by all the federations in the world.
