WKN & BOXREC: Celebrating One Year of Collaboration in Combat Sports !
BoxRec is the world’s leading database for professional boxing. Founded in 2000 by John Sheppard, it tracks fighters, bouts, rankings, and titles with unmatched accuracy. Today, BoxRec is the official reference for commissions, promoters, media, and fans worldwide
What BoxRec Does
• Registers Fighters: Professional boxers (and now some kickboxers) have official profiles with records, weight classes, and career details.
• Tracks Fights: Every bout is logged with results, dates, judges, and referees.
• Provides Rankings: An independent points-based system produces global rankings across all weight divisions.
• Lists Officials & Promoters: Referees, judges, and promoters are also recorded.
• Archives History: From 19th-century legends to modern stars, BoxRec preserves boxing’s complete record.
WKN: A Historic First for Kickboxing & Muay Thai
BoxRec made history by opening its system to other combat sports. The World Kickboxing Network became the first international federation of kickboxing and Muay Thai to be officially registered on the platform.
Like the WBC, WBO, IBF, IBA.. in boxing & others, the WKN now has on BoxRec:
• official champions,
• global rankings,
• and recognized titles.
This milestone gave kickboxing and Muay Thai fighters the same level of visibility, legitimacy, and historical record as professional boxers.
Why It Matters ?
BoxRec is more than a database, it is the official record-keeper of combat sports. By including the WKN, it bridges the gap between boxing and other striking disciplines, ensuring fighters’ achievements are preserved and recognized worldwide.
This month marks the first anniversary of this historic collaboration between BoxRec and the WKN, a partnership that continues to shape the future of combat sports.
