Rise of Champions in Fraserburgh: Results

The World Kickboxing Network returned to Scotland this past Saturday (July 20) with the “Rise of Champions” event presented by Albert Ross. The fight show took place at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre in Fraserburgh featuring a series of bouts with two WKN titles contested on the night.

In the main event Mikey Shields of Scotland faced Cathal Dunne of Ireland. The pair battled it out for WKN Celtic Lightweight title in Full Contact. The scheduled for four rounds encounter went the distance and ended in a unanimous draw. The judges could not be separate the athletes, therefore a rematch will take place on Billy Murray’s “Prokick” show in September.

In the co-main event William Stewart faced his country-fellow Rhys Cowan. The 68 kg MMA contest was scheduled for three rounds with WKN Scottish title on the line. Yet, it was all over in the first round with Stuart claiming the belt via a spectacular first round stoppage.

The undercard featured a series of bouts with local and international competitors.

In addition, “Rise of Champions” in Fraserburgh, Scotland was held back to back with “LNK Fight Night 12” that took place at SemaraH Hotel Lielupe in Jurmala, Latvia on the same day, July 20. The event saw a mixed-fight bill featuring boxing, kickboxing and MMA matchups, as well as the WKN European Lightweight MMA championship bout.

Up next is WKN British Open scheduled for August 3 at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre, in Fraserburgh, Scotland.
