During the official weigh-in, Rolando Aquije, WKN promoter from Peru, and Mauro Martorell, WKN promoter from Uruguay, had the opportunity to meet with the WKN World President. This meeting marked an important moment for the continued development of kickboxing in South America.
Both Peru and Uruguay are currently in a strong phase of growth in combat sports, with kickboxing steadily expanding thanks to the dedication of local promoters and athletes. While these countries are still developing compared to Argentina—today considered one of the major kickboxing nations in the region—the WKN is committed to supporting their progress.
The goal is to help Peru and Uruguay reach, in the future, the same level of structure, activity, and international recognition that Argentina enjoys today.
There is still a lot of work ahead, but both promoters have clearly demonstrated their motivation and professionalism. Rolando Aquije and Mauro Martorell are serious, committed, and above all deeply passionate about the sport.
With this meeting and the support of the WKN World President, the foundations are being laid for an exciting future for kickboxing in Peru and Uruguay.
