Restoring the Glory of Spanish 🇪🇸 Combat Sports – WKN’s Mission for 2026 !
Spain was once a dominant force in combat sports, particularly when the WKN was the leading organization in the country. Legendary champions such as Chinto Mordillo, Juanito Garcia, Javier Moya, Cezar Cordoba, David Calvo, Jordi Calvet, Oscar Lara, Oscar Biel, Oso Perez, and German Tabuenca established Spain as a true reference for elite fighters in Europe and worldwide. In more recent years, athletes like Benitez, Campoy, Babayan, Menem, Requejo, along with the new generation represented by Chafi and Quevedo, have continued to demonstrate the depth of Spanish talent.
During that golden era, when the WKN set the standard in Spain, combat sports events regularly attracted crowds of 5,000, 7,000, and even more spectators, reflecting the prestige and credibility of the titles on offer.
Today, the situation has become increasingly difficult to understand. The constant multiplication of national federations, kickboxing associations, and so-called international titles has created a fragmented and confusing landscape. Even more concerning, new “international federations” continue to be created in Spain without any real legitimacy, structure, or global recognition, further diluting the value of championships and misleading fighters and the public alike.
Faced with this decline, the WKN has made it its mission in 2026 to restore Spanish combat sports by rebuilding clarity, credibility, and high standards. Despite the deep damage caused by years of neglect, the determination remains strong: to return Spain to its rightful place as a respected powerhouse on the global combat sports stage.
