🙏 Respect and sporting values: a WKN commitment !
Respect, integrity, and sportsmanship must remain the top priorities for all participants in combat sports, not only for fighters, but also for coaches, officials, and organizers.
The WKN wishes to reaffirm that a code of conduct has been established one year ago to protect and promote these fundamental values. This charter must be respected by every organization and by all individuals involved, without exception.
We also recognize that no organization is perfect. We are all human, and mistakes can happen. However, even in moments of disagreement or imperfection, respect must remain our shared and essential value.
At a time when social media can encourage excess, provocation, and inappropriate behavior, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that our sports are practiced with dignity, responsibility, and respect for everyone.
Competition should never overshadow the principles that define true sport. The WKN remains committed to promoting fair play, mutual respect, and ethical conduct at every level.
🙏CHARTER OF RESPECT
By WKN – World Kickboxing Network
Preamble
The WKN World Charter establishes the principles of respect, dignity, and fair play for all participants in WKN-sanctioned events. Every fighter, trainer, promoter, and official is expected to uphold these standards before, during, and after the competition. The ring must remain a place of sport, discipline, and honor not a battlefield. All participants are ambassadors of Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and combat sports, and their conduct reflects on the entire sport worldwide.
I. Duties of Fighters and Trainers
1. Respect for Officials: Fighters and trainers must show total respect to referees, judges, and the supervising official at all times. Questioning decisions should be done calmly and through proper channels.
2. Respect for Promoters and Staff: All interactions with the promoter, their employees, and partners must be courteous and professional. Complaints or concerns must be addressed respectfully.
3. Prohibition of Insults and Inappropriate Behavior: Any form of verbal or physical abuse toward anyone present is strictly forbidden. This includes gestures, social media posts, or public statements.
4. No Trash Talk: Provocative or aggressive statements aimed at opponents are not allowed. The focus must remain on preparing for the fight and showcasing skill.
5. Weigh-in Conduct: Weigh-ins must be conducted without hostility, intimidation, or aggressive behavior. Respect the personal space of all athletes and officials.
6. Entrance Music: Fighters’ entrance music must contain appropriate and respectful lyrics. Content promoting violence, hate, or discrimination is prohibited.
7. Corner Behavior During the Fight: Coaches must remain calm in the corner. Shouting, distracting gestures, or attempts to interfere with the referee will result in warnings or immediate disqualification.
8. Post-Fight Sportsmanship: At the conclusion of the fight, boxers are required to pose together for the final photo, shake hands, and show mutual respect, regardless of the outcome.
9. Medical Compliance and Safety: Fighters must follow all medical protocols, including pre-fight medical checks, concussion protocols, and recovery requirements. Safety is a top priority.
10. Fight Suspension Rules: To maintain fighter health and integrity, no competitor may fight within 30 full days before a scheduled WKN event. In case of a knockout, a mandatory one-month suspension before the next fight applies.
11. Ethical Conduct: Fighters must uphold honesty, fairness, and integrity. Cheating, bribery, or manipulation of results will result in severe sanctions.
12. Role Modeling: Fighters and trainers serve as role models. Conduct should demonstrate discipline, dedication, and respect for younger athletes and fans.
II. Duties of Promoters and Their Staff
1. Respectful Reception: Promoters and staff must welcome fighters and trainers with courtesy, professionalism, and friendship.
2. Provision of Quality Facilities: Provide suitable accommodation, meals, and amenities, while respecting the cultural habits of athletes from different countries.
3. Independence of Officials: Promoters must never interfere with referees, judges, or supervisory officials. Decisions must remain impartial and based solely on performance.
4. Safe Competition Environment: Ensure the ring, corners, and surrounding areas are safe, clean, and dignified, with all necessary equipment and medical support in place.
5. Fair Event Management: Maintain transparency and fairness in scheduling, scoring, and all organizational aspects of the event.
III. General Conduct and Sanctions
1. Rule Enforcement: Any violation of this Charter, whether before, during, or after a fight, will be sanctioned by the WKN World Office. Penalties may include fines, suspensions, disqualification, or bans from future events.
2. Dignity of the Ring: The ring must remain a symbol of sport, skill, and respect. It must never become a place of hatred, aggression, or hostility.
3. Fair Play and Sportsmanship: All participants are expected to demonstrate fair play, accept the outcome gracefully, and treat all participants with respect.
4. Health and Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety protocols, medical checks, and rest periods is mandatory to protect all participants’ health.
5. Promotion of Combat Sports Values: All participants, including fighters, trainers, promoters, and officials, must uphold the values of discipline, honor, and integrity.
