Message from the President Regarding South America in 2025 ✨

« In 2025, we will launch a dedicated program to further develop South America, a continent rich in high-level fighters. I will personally visit several countries in the region to establish WKN national teams, as well as train officials, judges, referees, supervisors, and coordinators. This effort will help strengthen the structures we have already put in place.
In the past, Argentina was a flagship WKN country, thanks to the hard work of our world office and the national celebrity, Jorge “Acero” Cali. Together, with his dedication and my leadership, we laid strong foundations and built fighters who achieved global recognition. No one has forgotten the legendary events in Argentina, featuring world-renowned fighters like Jorge “Acero” Cali, who filled iconic venues such as the Luna Park in Buenos Aires. He also headlined major events at famous venues like the Casino in Mar del Plata, where he lost a WKN World Championship bout against Italian fighter Ben Azzizi due to a doctor stoppage.
The rematch was a headline event across Europe, particularly in Italy, during Carlo Barbuto’s ThaiBoxing Mania in Torino, where Jorge “Acero” Cali won with a devastating KO. This fight is still remembered for its dramatic finish, as Ben Azzizi suffered a fractured tibia from one of Cali’s thunderous kicks.
Legends like Jorge “Acero” Cali, Capplonch, Bosch, Roa, Velazco, Salazar, Grieco and Roma were among the great champions who achieved worldwide recognition. During this golden era, we even had major television networks like FOX Sports and ESPN broadcasting our events, which were not only seen throughout South America but also aired in Europe through a special program we created called *Simply The Best.
Personally, I believe that with the help of our new partners, I will be able to rebuild champions of the same caliber—not only in Argentina but also in other South American countries that have begun to trust us again. Too many federations in kickboxing fail to prioritize the reputation of our sport and the development of fighters.
In response, we have already invested considerable effort into supporting an Argentine fighter, Lucía Apdelgarim, who will compete on December 31 in one of the world’s largest organizations in Asia, the RIZIN 49 Decade edition.
Lucía is a young and disciplined athlete who embodies the dedication and vision we have for the future. She could one day represent the culmination of our hard work and play a pivotal role in reshaping the South American kickboxing scene.
Unfortunately, over time, kickboxing has lost its prominence in Argentina. Many teams, fighters, and promoters have turned away from the discipline, leading to a noticeable absence of high-level Argentinian fighters on the world stage. It is regrettable that many of those we supported in the past have opted for minor federations or easier titles. However, with the loyalty of the few committed individuals who remain, we will strive to rebuild. Although it won’t be easy, I firmly believe that, as we did before with Jorge “Acero” Cali, we can once again transform Argentina into a powerhouse in kickboxing, producing world-class champions recognized globally.
Starting in 2025, I will travel across South America to reinvigorate and expand our federation with the professionalism and dedication that define the WKN. Step by step, we will rebuild and nurture the great fighters who are eager to rise to the top. »

Mensaje del Presidente sobre Sudamérica en 2025 ✨
« En 2025, lanzaremos un programa dedicado a desarrollar aún más Sudamérica, un continente rico en luchadores de alto nivel. Personalmente visitaré varios países de la región para establecer equipos nacionales de la WKN, así como para formar a oficiales, jueces, árbitros, supervisores y coordinadores. Este esfuerzo ayudará a fortalecer las estructuras que ya hemos implementado.
En el pasado, Argentina fue un país insignia de la WKN gracias al arduo trabajo de nuestra oficina mundial y a la celebridad nacional Jorge “Acero” Cali. Juntos, con su dedicación y mi liderazgo, sentamos bases sólidas y formamos luchadores que lograron reconocimiento global. Nadie ha olvidado los eventos legendarios en Argentina, con luchadores de renombre mundial como Jorge “Acero” Cali, quien llenó lugares icónicos como el Luna Park en Buenos Aires. También encabezó grandes eventos en lugares famosos como el Casino de Mar del Plata, donde perdió un combate por el Campeonato Mundial WKN contra el luchador italiano Ben Azzizi debido a una decisión médica.
La revancha fue un evento destacado en toda Europa, particularmente en Italia, durante el ThaiBoxing Mania de Carlo Barbuto en Torino, donde Jorge “Acero” Cali ganó con un devastador KO. Esta pelea aún se recuerda por su dramático desenlace, ya que Benazzi sufrió una fractura de tibia causada por una de las potentes patadas de Cali.
Leyendas como Jorge “Acero” Cali, Capplonch, Bosch, Roa, Velazco, Salazar, Grieco y Roma estuvieron entre los grandes campeones que alcanzaron reconocimiento mundial. Durante esta era dorada, incluso tuvimos grandes cadenas de televisión como FOX Sports y ESPN transmitiendo nuestros eventos, que no solo se vieron en toda Sudamérica, sino también en Europa a través de un programa especial que creamos llamado *Simply The Best*.
Personalmente, creo que con la ayuda de nuestros nuevos socios, podré reconstruir campeones del mismo calibre, no solo en Argentina, sino también en otros países de Sudamérica que han comenzado a confiar nuevamente en nosotros. Demasiadas federaciones de kickboxing no priorizan la reputación de nuestro deporte ni el desarrollo de los luchadores.
En respuesta, ya hemos invertido un esfuerzo considerable en apoyar a una luchadora argentina, Lucía Abdel Ghary, quien competirá el 31 de diciembre en una de las organizaciones más grandes del mundo en Asia, la edición RIZIN 49 Decade. Lucía es una atleta joven y disciplinada que encarna la dedicación y la visión que tenemos para el futuro. Un día, podría representar la culminación de nuestro arduo trabajo y desempeñar un papel clave en la reestructuración de la escena del kickboxing sudamericano.
Lamentablemente, con el tiempo, el kickboxing ha perdido protagonismo en Argentina. Muchos equipos, luchadores y promotores se han alejado de la disciplina, lo que ha llevado a una notable ausencia de luchadores argentinos de alto nivel en el escenario mundial. Es lamentable que muchos de aquellos a quienes apoyamos en el pasado hayan optado por federaciones menores o títulos más fáciles. Sin embargo, con la lealtad de las pocas personas comprometidas que quedan, nos esforzaremos por reconstruir. Aunque no será fácil, estoy firmemente convencido de que, como lo hicimos antes con Jorge “Acero” Cali, podemos una vez más transformar a Argentina en una potencia del kickboxing, produciendo campeones de clase mundial reconocidos a nivel global.
A partir de 2025, viajaré por toda Sudamérica para revitalizar y expandir nuestra federación con el profesionalismo y la dedicación que definen a la WKN. Paso a paso, reconstruiremos y cultivaremos a los grandes luchadores que están ansiosos por alcanzar la cima. »
