A highly anticipated clash between Johnny “Swift” Smith (9-0, 6 KOs) and Lee Sung-hyun (55-9-1, 17 KOs) for WKN World welterweight title has been confirmed for Saturday, November 27 headlining Knockdown Lockdown at Stormont Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Originally scheduled for September, the match was rescheduled due to the travel restrictions caused by COVID.
The “Made in Prokick” event, promoted by former four-division world champion Billy Murray, marks the return of kickboxing world championship to Northern Ireland.
The Korean kickboxing star, Lee Sung-hyun, will come to Belfast with an impressive 55 fight record, 47 of those all wins. He is a two-division Japanese RISE champion, both at 63 kg and recently at 70 kg. He also competed at the K-1 World MAX and got to the Final 4. Lee, is also a recipient of the Korean K-1 MAX 70kg championship belt.
For Smith, this next fight will be his 11th professional match with six of those wins coming by way of knockout. Smith, a site engineering manager at Calor Gas in the shipyard, right in the heart of the city of Belfast, also held the WKN amateur Welterweight world crown and amassed an amateur fight record of 23F 17W 4L 2D.
The undercard will see a series of kickboxing bouts with the best of Northern Ireland up against international opponents.
