Historic Agreement Between WKN and BoxRec: A Major Step for Kickboxing Recognition ✨
The agreement between WKN and BoxRec, the global reference in professional boxing, marks a historic milestone for kickboxing. For several months, WKN has been undertaking the immense task of registering all its major archived fights and world championship bouts into the BoxRec database. This effort is crucial in reinforcing our legitimacy as a serious and globally recognized federation.
Some of the greatest fights from the 1990s are already listed in the BoxRec database, and many more will be added soon. Among them are the historic championship bouts of Franco-American Jérôme Turcan, the first heavyweight champion in WKN history, as well as many other legendary fighters.
WKN is committed to aligning its regulations and operational standards with those of professional boxing. As part of our archival efforts, we recently rediscovered exceptional fight posters from one of WKN’s greatest world champions, French fighter Christophe Tendil. Tendil made history by inaugurating and winning the WKN World Championship Super Welterweight division with an unforgettable victory over Dutch legend Jerry Morris in a 12×2-minute war.
