Flash-Back : Two Years Ago, France Was on Fire 🇫🇷 Lidon vs Benzaquen
February 2024.
Exactly two years ago today, under the Eiffel Tower, French kickboxing lived one of its most mediatised nights.
Yohan Lidon vs Cyril Benzaquen.
WKN World Championship. Light heavyweight. Five rounds. Paris. Sold out. Live broadcast.
The organization matched the biggest boxing events: high-level production, strict supervision by Mr. Sassi and André Alexis event led by Frédéric Liwer, international and national judges as Yigin Osman, assistant by WKN friends as Pascal Arènes, Jean Louis Legland and commentary by Jean-Philippe Lustyk alongside Sylvie Tellier. The spotlight was national almost historic.
But what truly set that night apart was the tension.
Two elite champions and One legacy moment.
The build-up ignited the entire French kickboxing community. Gyms were debating. Social media was buzzing. Everyone had an opinion.
Inside the ring, it was intense, tactical, emotional. And as always in combat sports, the final decision reminded us that judging is a matter of interpretation and ethics not simple calculation. Since that night, there hasn’t been a media clash of that magnitude in France.
Maybe that’s for the best. Still, two years later, the echo of that evening remains.
February 8 wasn’t just a fight.
It was a moment for French kickboxing.
