Dedication of the First WKN Amateur Open Tournament to the Legendary Steve Smoger 🇺🇸🙏
« It is with great emotion that I would like to dedicate this first WKN amateur tournament, in the form of an open event, to my late friend, Mr. Steve Smoger.
Steve was a passionate lover of boxing, but also of all other combat sports. He was undoubtedly one of the few great boxing referees who was also a kickboxing referee. I remember, a long time ago, when he asked me, while we were organizing the Biggers Better events, “Stéphane, I would really like to referee WKN kickboxing too. It’s something that interests me, and I find it special.”
Of course, it was with great honor that I brought him into our WKN federation as an international referee, and he learned the ropes with his other friend, Mr. Klaus Hagemann. We can be sure that our Europe Open tournament chief supervisor, Mr. Klaus Hagemann, will honor the memory of Steve Smoger, our dear friend who left us too soon, with the utmost respect.
So, it is with great pleasure that I dedicate our European Amateur Open Cup to this remarkable person, a great man with a big heart and unparalleled experience, Mr. Steve Smoger.
