During the WKN World Tour, the President of WKN spent a memorable day in the heart of Paraguayan boxing, meeting some of the personalities who have shaped the history of the sport in the country.
*Meeting a National Legend: Juan Carlos “Toro” Giménez
the legendary Juan Carlos Giménez Ferreyra, known around the world as “Toro” Giménez, widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers in Paraguayan history.
Born in Asunción in 1960, Giménez built an outstanding professional career marked by courage and determination. Over 80 professional fights, he achieved 62 victories including 42 knockouts, becoming one of the most respected fighters ever produced by Paraguay.
He won the WBC International Light Heavyweight title and fought four times for a world championship (WBC/WBO). His career brought him to Europe, where he worked with several international promoters and faced some of the biggest names in boxing history such as Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe, and the legendary Roberto Durán IN USA.
For many fans, “Toro” Giménez remains a symbol of pride for Paraguayan boxing, a champion who carried the spirit of his country into the biggest arenas of the sport.
*A Traditional Paraguayan Barbecue and Stories of Boxing
The meeting took place around a traditional Paraguayan barbecue at Favio Barzola, a talented Paraguayan fighter who spent part of his career competing in France. creating an incredible and friendly atmosphere where stories, memories and laughter were shared.
*Honoring the Legacy of a Pioneer
A particularly emotional moment came during the meeting with the family of Favio Potrillo Romero. His father, who passed away more than ten years ago, was remembered as one of the key figures in the development of boxing in Paraguay, playing an important role in helping the sport grow in the country.
The moment was filled with emotion, respect and gratitude as everyone remembered his contribution to Paraguayan boxing.
*A Symbolic Gift from Paraguay
During the visit to the Chamber of Notaries of Paraguay, the WKN President was honored with an extraordinary gift: a magnificent historical book printed in only 100 copies, weighing more than 8 kilograms, retracing 200 years of modern Paraguayan history.
More than a book, it represents a true symbol of Paraguayan pride and heritage.

Touched by the extraordinary hospitality, humanity and kindness of everyone present, the WKN President also took the opportunity to offer several symbolic gifts to these remarkable people.
Among them were some exclusive WKN items, including the latest edition of the WKN Champion Ring, along with other special memorabilia small tokens of respect and appreciation celebrating the shared passion for combat sports and the strong friendships created during this unforgettable moment.
