Estrellas de Acero 5 took place in Ireneo Portela, Buenos Aires on November 24. The event was the next edition of WKN Argentinian series of amateur rating tournaments.
Supported by âSonnonsâ, the competition saw over 150 fast-paced amateur bouts in various disciplines of kickboxing (light contact, full contact, thai-boxing). Junior and adult competitors squared off in their respective ages and weight classes.
Estrellas de Acero is presented by WKN Argentinian lead Jorge Acero Cali (former World Kickboxing Network Super Cruiserweight champion) and Fernando Munoz, in collaboration with Cristian Bosch of Dojo Serpiente. Additional information can be found on wknargentina.com.
Over the years the South American capital of Kickboxing, Argentina has held a number of world-class events including eight episodes of Simply the Best produced in such cities as Buenos Aires, San Luis, Cordoba and Moreno, featuring World, Intercontinental and subordinate title bouts. The list of prominent kickboxers representing the country includes Federico Roma, Ignacio Capllonch, Nicolas Vega, Gaston Monroe, among others.
Estrellas de Acero 5 in Ireneo Portela, Buenos Aires, Argentina, was presented on the same day Nov. 24) as the annual La Nuit des Titans in Farciennes, Belgium. A new WKN European Super Featherweight Muay Thai champion, Gaetano Pirrello, was crowned on the night.
